The 23-year-old comes into the 2025 season after a spectacular year, having won gold at the European Championships in Rome before claiming her first Olympic title in Paris. In between, she soared over a world record of 2.10m at the Paris Diamond League, bettering the 2.09m mark set by Bulgaria’s Stefka Kostadinova at the 1987 World Championships.
Mahuchikh went on to take victory at the Diamond League final in Brussels last September, crowning a stellar season that saw her named female field event athlete of the year at the World Athletics Awards.
A native of Dnipro, Ukraine, she had her breakthrough season in 2019, setting a world U20 record to win silver at the Doha World Championships at the age of just 18. Mahuchikh followed that up with an Olympic bronze medal in 2021, a world indoor title and world outdoor silver medal in 2022 followed by a world outdoor title in 2023.
