Duplantis made his first visit to China last year, soaring over the first of three world records he set during 2024, clearing 6.24m at the Xiamen Diamond League. He narrowly missed another world record of 6.25m the following week in Shanghai/Suzhou, where he took victory with 6.00m.
Duplantis has yet to compete in 2025 but the 25-year-old is coming off another record-breaking year, capped by his 6.25m world record in Paris to claim his second Olympic title. He also took gold at both the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow and at the European Championships in Rome.
In China last year, Duplantis highlighted the “great energy from the crowd” which helped propel him to record heights. He will be keen to put on another show for the fans and get his outdoor season off to a flying start upon his return, building towards a tilt at a third consecutive world outdoor title in Tokyo later this year.
Mondo: “I can’t wait to come back and compete at Shanghai/Keqiao Diamond League. Last year was such a great experience jumping in front of the Chinese crowds. Let’s make it another incredible memory together!”
The reigning men’s field event athlete of the year, Duplantis has rewritten the men’s pole vault world record an astonishing 10 times, most recently at the Silesia Diamond League last August, where he cleared 6.26m. Having stated numerous times that he believes he can jump over 6.30m, all eyes will be on the pole vault runway in Shanghai/Keqiao to see if he can maintain his dominance and again take the event to new heights.
